1999: New Year’s Resolutions…
By Marvin T. Miller, Editor-in-Chief
Dear Readers,
1999 is here already! (Actually, at the time of this writing, its still in December, 1998… but by the time this issue gets in your hands, it should be 1999 by now…)
You know the old tradition of creating New Year’s Resolutions and breaking them right away… like resolving to diet and only to find yourself binging at your favorite local Taco Bell joint… (dang that chihuahua!).
At DeafNationNewspaper, there are some resolutions I’d like to make and see happen, and this means what? Better product for you to enjoy!
Here we go…
The Resolutions
Resolution #1: Make DeafNation Newspaper bigger and better than ever in terms of news coverage and features.
Resolution #2:DeafNation website to become a real portal site – a place where everyone wants to be at. It will be a resource center – a place you come to find information on the Deaf Community. We’re working on this as we print this issue.
Resolution #3: Introduce more options for advertisers large and small. We’re proud to announce DeafNation Marketplace – a sneak peek is somewhere inside these pages you’re holding now. It’ll be a place for small businesses and organizations needing to advertise their products without paying too much for the ad space.
Resolution #4: Hire more writers who will do even better job of covering stories all over the nation!
Resolution #5: Do more for Deaf Awareness Week all over the nation by doing a special supplement coverage with photos from the events across the nation. With this one, we will need your help by submitting photos and short stories of your local events!
Resolution #6: Do more special supplements covering events such as the upcoming World Games for the Deaf in Davos and World Federation of the Deaf in Australia.
Resolution #7: Make this newspaper free! Hm… don’t we all wish this could be true!
At any rate, I’m glad 1999 is here! See you at a local Taco Bell! Happy New Year!
